Milton Keynes development density potential

The potential areas for development have been divided up into squares in order to assess where the varying densities should be located within the block. In accordance with the urban design principles page where an assessment was made to put higher densities closer to access routes and busy shopping areas thereby maximising future occupants access to facilities.
Development has been placed ontop of the Milton Keynes shopping centre as well as in the underutilised car parking areas surrounding the site. The foodcourt has been demolished as the businesses in this are are not thriving and they would be moved into new areas provided at ground floor opposite the shopping centre.
Mainly the influence for on top of Milton Keynes is Almere, Netherlands and the influence for the car parking is Emmen, Switzerland.
All built form has been orientated to respect the set backs, linear form and overall character of Milton Keynes which makes it unique and is part of it's identity.
The existing shopping centre, the theatre and the newly built apartments have been retained as these elements are thriving and add to the current vitality of the place which is key to the attractiveness of a place.
